Voters' List

Elections Ontario now maintains a Permanent Register of Electors for Ontario, commonly known as the Register or Voters’ List. The Voters’ List, is a list of individuals who are eligible to vote in provincial and local municipal elections in Ontario.

To check if you're on the Voters' List, click the button below:

To amend the Voters' List

To amend (add, correct or delete) information on the Voters' List, you must complete an Application to Amend Voters’ List and provide a copy of acceptable ID.

Ways to submit:

  1. Online: Email the completed application form and acceptable ID to clerk@hornepayne.ca; or

  2. In person: Bring the completed form and acceptable ID to Town Hall.

If you require a printed copy of the application, please contact us or visit the town hall.

Voting by Proxy

If you are unable to vote during the advance voting period or on Voting Day, you may appoint another eligible elector to vote on your behalf using an Appointment for Voting Proxy (Form 3).

To appoint a voting proxy, complete two copies of the form and give both copies to the person you are appointing as your proxy.

The appointed proxy must bring both completed copies of the form to the Clerk in person for certification.

The proxy must also provide acceptable identification for:

  • the person appointing the proxy; and
  • the person appointed as the proxy.

Identification must be an original document or a certified copy. Regular photocopies will not be accepted.

Completed proxy forms may be brought to the municipal office, or another location designated by the Clerk, when the Clerk is available.

The Clerk may be unavailable due to meetings, appointments, or other election duties. Electors are encouraged to contact the Clerk in advance to confirm availability before attending the municipal office for proxy form certification. If the Clerk is unavailable, you may be asked to return at another time.

On each advance voting day, the Clerk will be available at the advance voting location to certify proxy forms from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m.

Forms will not be certified on Election Day.

When voting on behalf of another elector, the proxy must bring the certified Appointment for Voting Proxy form to the voting location.

Before receiving a paper ballot, the proxy must take the prescribed oath.

A person may act as a proxy for only one non-family member. A proxy may act for more than one family member if they are a spouse, sibling, parent, child, grandparent, or grandchild.

Please note: A power of attorney, executor, or other representative cannot vote on another person’s behalf. Voting by proxy is the only way to vote for another eligible elector.
